Willard,

As the battle over taxes boils over in Washington, Americans wanting the facts should stay far away from the liberal media. Based on the the coverage of the economy in 2010, we can count on them only for lies and distortions in pursuit of a liberal agenda!

A just-released report by the Media Research Center’s Business and Media Institute (BMI) identifies The Top 10 Worst Economic Myths of the year.

Some of the lowlights include:

#10 — GM’s bailout “repayment,” was proof that the bailouts worked for ABC’s Diane Sawyer

#7 — Obama the Tax Cutter, Featuring President Obama as the tax-slashing hero of the middle-class

It was tall-tales upon taller tales — even suggesting that the skyrocketing unemployment rate, that jumped from 7.7 to 10 percent after Obama took office, really wasn’t too bad! CNBC’s Steve Liesman claimed we were experiencing, “self-sustaining job growth,” on April 2, 2010, despite a nearly 10% unemployment rate at the time.

For Obama cheerleaders on the network news shows, the past year was a time of “hope.” Network anchors celebrated the impending recovery that existed only in the minds of liberals in the media and Washington, DC!

Willard, with people’s perceptions about the economy affecting the actual state of the economy so greatly, these pervasive lies do tremendous damage to our country. Many people are still unaware of the massive tax hikes that are coming for every American on January 1st should these leftists get their way.

As a member of the MRC Action team, you are on the front lines of countering media bias. As the debate about taxes and spending rages you will be armed with the ten most egregious examples of why your friends and family cannot believe the “facts” about the economy that they get from the so-callled “news” media!

If you enjoy this kind of eye-popping coverage, you can sign up to receive weekly BMI reports delivered right to your email inbox. There is no charge — but we do ask that you share them with friends!
